SCHOOL BOARD APPRECTION

Each year, School Board Directors are recognized for the selfless contributions they
give toward strengthening local communities.

The nine members of the Everett Area School Board are a key part of the team that
makes informed decisions that shape our public school system. January is designated as
School Director Recognition Month. It is a time to celebrate and recognize the challenging
and vital work each member performs on behalf of our students and families.

On average, school directors devote up to 10 hours per month to the complex
responsibilities of school business, including adopting policy, voting on budgets, evaluating
school security issues and reviewing hiring decisions. The impact of the coronavirus
pandemic has added the additional challenge of determining how to best provide for the
needs of our students and families, in these difficult times and challenging environment.

Our School Board has been challenged with making critical decisions quickly, from
the best information available. They have been navigating virtual board and committee
meetings and have ensured students have been supplied with needed food and technology,
during remote instruction. Those who serve in the role of School Board Director, an unpaid
position, selflessly do so to give back to their community and contribute to public education.
These locally elected officials are invested in our community. They are our neighbors,
friends, local leaders, parents and engaged citizens.

Please take a moment to express your gratitude to these public servants. Their efforts
are a year-round commitment and investment in our community. They work to ensure the
success of our school system and work to provide opportunities for the success of every
school-age child in this community, even during this unprecedented pandemic.
In these very challenging days, now more than ever, we all need to show them our
gratitude.
