The following 24 Hour Crisis Plan was published by Nulton Diagnostic & Treatment Center (888-918-5465) as a useful tool for individuals and families:

In case of an emotional/psychiatric emergency, the following steps should be taken:

1. During weekdays, daytime hours, call Bedford County Mental Health at:
(814) 623-5166 on Monday from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm
(814) 623-5166 on Tuesday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Tell the person who answers the phone that you are having an emergency and wish to be connected with a mental health worker. Be able to discuss the details of the emergency and be willing to follow through on any recommendations made by the representative.

2. During weekends or after hours, call Bedford County Mental Health at:
1-866-611-6467 and ask for a Crisis Worker.

Tell the person who answers the phone that you are experiencing a "mental health emergency". Be able to discuss the details of the emergency and be willing to follow through on any recommendations made by the representative.

3. If a child has run away, call:

  • The State Police at (814) 623-6133

  • And the Children and Youth Services Hotline at (814) 623-4808
    or (814) 623-1148 after 4:30 pm.

4. If there is physical abuse/violence happening, call 911. If a child is involved, then call the Children and Youth Services Hotline at:

  • (814) 623-4808 or

  • CHILDLINE at 1-800-932-0313

5. If there is a medical emergency or you are in doubt as to whom to call or what to do, call 911 first.

6. If the emergency ends up in a hospitalization for your child or adolescent and they are involved in Wraparound Services, please call your Behavior Specialist Consultant or Mobile Therapist the next day. Services may be suspended until your child or adolescent is out of the hospital.
